Parent - Teacher Partnership rules

Parent – Teacher Partnerships

In the last newsletter was the first of six rules for parents to help their children get the most out of school.

Rule 1: Prepare your child for school.
If schools keep performing parental roles, they absolve parents of these responsibilities.
• Teach your child respect, acceptable behaviour, good manners, personal hygiene, punctuality and healthy choices.
• Teach your child about the importance of values and morals.
• Schools teach some aspects of sexuality, drug education and personal safety issues, including water, road and energy safety, but these are, firstly, parental responsibilities.
• Encourage positive attitudes.
• Teachers take for granted that you have taught your child basic skills.
• Please check your child’s homework.
• Allow your child to make mistakes and accept responsibility for their own actions.

School Holiday break
School will finish for term one on Friday 15th April. Students are reminded to keep safe over the holiday break.Reports and invoices

During this break we will be celebrating two events Easter weekend and ANZAC day on the 25th April. House leaders will be assisting the Stratford Mayoress in making wreaths to hang in the Hall of Remembrance on Thursday 21st April. The senior leaders will be marching in the ANZAC day parade as well as attending the dawn service at Kopuatama Cemetery.

All students will have received a report in the past two weeks. Year 9 and 10 students will have had Junior Graduation report 1 while Year 11, 12 and 13 students will have received their interim/progress report. Included with these reports were invoices for all students who owe money for classes, sports teams, and other items. Some of these relate to 2009 and 2010 and the school would like these paid. Please contact the school to set up an automatic payment account.
Sporting success

There has been more sporting success over the past two weeks. The TSSSA 7’s team were the runners-up at the tournament last weekend, while students have competed also in TSSSA orienteering, lawn bowls and Rogaine events. Students went to the Dressage competition this week and we are awaiting results.
