Tuesday 5 November at 1 pm in the assembly hall.Parents, caregivers and visitors are asked to be seated by 12.50 pm so a prompt start can be made. Afternoon tea will follow for prize-winners, year 13 students, guests and parents. All senior students are expected to attend.Junior students (Y9 & 10) will not be required at school on this day unless they are in the choir, Kapa Haka or have been asked to attend as an usher or server.

Regional Sports Success
Success for Boys Basketballers
A number of
our students have been selected for Taranaki basketball teams. Alex Taikato and
Blake Cheer are in the Under 19 Boys team, while Quintin Bailey is in the Under
17 Boys team and Courtney Young is in the Under 15 Boys team. This is the 6th
time that Blake has been a Taranaki Basketball rep. Tamsin Burt and Bailey
Gavin have been selected for the Taranaki Girls Under 15’s team.
Motorbike Success for Josh
Josh Hunger
(Year 11) has been competing all season in a variety of Motorbike Enduro and
Cross Country events. He was placed 6th in the North Island and 8th
in NZ at the completion of the Cross Country Motorbike series. In the National
Enduro 15-16 years series he gained the following places; Oparau meet 3rd
place, Akatarawa meet 2nd place, Maramarua meet 3rd
place, Whangamata meet 3= placing. In the Central Zone Enduro events, he was
placed 2nd at Akatarawa, Pahiatua and Martinborough meets. These are
very consistent results, so congratulations to Josh on an excellent season.

Hunger has been selected for the Taranaki Under 19 netball team.
Hockey Success
The school hockey players have had great success at provincial level with a number of students playing in the Queen’s Birthday weekend tournament. Shaun Lawrence was the captain of the Taranaki Under 18 Boys’ team which included Shaun Nager, Kieren Harrison, Cory Kieft, Xavier Hey, Curtis Boyde and Thorn Mitchell-Smith from SHS, while Lara Williams and Kimberley Thoms were in the Taranaki Girls’ team. Curtis Boyde and Lara Williams have been selected for the Central Districts Under 18 sides and will play in the national tournament in Hamilton in July. Teacher Only Day / Senior Assessment Week
This Friday, 31 May, is a professional development day for the staff of Stratford High School. This day is allocated by the Ministry of Education for staff to work on NCEA alignment. School will be closed for classes.
A reminder that Monday is Queen’s Birthday holiday and the school will be closed. School resumes on Tuesday 4th June and it will be Day 6 on the school timetable.
There is NO study leave for any student – normal classes will continue to run for all senior classes. All senior students will be issued with a copy of the exam timetable and exam conditions at the Deans Assembly on Thursday.

School Closure
Dear parents / caregivers
The school will be closed for all students tomorrow
Wednesday 15th May, due to continuing water problems.
School will resume on Thursday 16th May for all
students with timetable day 1.
The school cross country will be held on Friday 17th
May, weather permitting.
