DairyNZ Scholarship for 2011 Head Girl

Taylor Bailey, 2011 Head Girl and
DiaryNZ Scholarship recipient

DairyNZ, on behalf of the NZ Diary Industry, is proud to announce that 61 scholarships for recipients to study at Lincoln or Massey Universities in 2012 have been awarded to students undertaking degrees in agriculture or related subjects and who have a particular interest in a career in the dairy industry.

Taylor is one of 23 scholarship recipients who will be studying at Massey University. She will have her tuition fees paid by DairyNZ this year. The scholarship will assist Taylor to meet the costs of university study at Massey and continues until course completion as long as grades continue to be acceptable.

Mr Keenan, Principal commented that the success of Taylor in being selected is a great achievement and a wonderful testament to the quality of education at Stratford High School. Taylor is the first student from Stratford High School to be awarded this scholarship since Anna Adlam received it ten years ago.

This significant support to outstanding young scholars is part of the Dairy Industry’s determination to encourage the best people into the industry as the future research scientists, farm advisers, farm managers, farm owners and rural professionals. Scholarship winners are mentored and supported through their university years and can expect to gain employment in a variety of positions, either on farm or in the support areas, of this massive industry.

The closing date for 2013 scholarships is 7 December 2012 and information can be found on the universities or DairyNZ websites or from Mrs Milner, Careers Adviser at school.
