The Give Way Rule

Land Transport New Zealand are changing the Give Way rules this weekend 25th March. This video has been shown to all students at asembly on Tuesday but we advise that you discuss the changes with your teen driver to make sure that they understand the changes.

2012 Student Council announced:
Chairperson Melissa Coull-Herewini

The 2012 student councilors have been elected and presented with badges on Tuesday 21st at assembly. Each school house has two junior and two senior students representing them on the council. For this year they are:
Amess House: Shania Nickel, Samuel Reardon, Lemuel Chand, Alex Taikato
McAllister House: Dean Mason-Loveridge, Holly Mackie, Hannah Gallyer, Jessica Short
Trimble House: Makaiyah Hughes, Kody Simpson, Jarvis Gotty, Blake Cheer
Tyrer House: Asia Loveridge-Acero, Matthew Kowalewski, Lewis Marchant, Shayna Heal
Council chairperson, Melissa is looking forward to working with the new council and building on the successful projects from previous years. elections have been held for secretary and treasurer who are Shayna Heal and Lemuel Chand respectively.


A Good day at the Athletics
Tamsin Burt

Stratford had a very successful day at the TSSSA Athletics held in Inglewood on Thursday 15 March. We had four 1st placings with Tamsin Burt in the junior girls’ 300m and junior girls’ discus with a throw of 24.53m, over 5m further than second place. Luke fisher won the intermediate boys 200 m by 0.1 second from Quinlan Bosson and Nikayla Johnson won the senior girls’ shot put.

This success was backed up with several other placings by Quinlan Bosson, Luke Fisher and Sarah Kowalewski standing out. The junior boys relay team came third in the 100m.

Central Rugby teams
All teams are training at the moment for the 2012 season. All under 15 players practise on Tuesday at 3.30pm at the school. Under 19 players practise on Tuesday and Friday at 5.30pm. Any new players can phone the school to speak to Mr Walker.

First disco a success
The first school disco to raise funds for Relay 4 Life and stage challenge was a success. Held on Thursday 8th March over $900 has been added to the fundraising coffers. Mr Woodd and Miss MacDonald would like to thank the support of all students and staff for making this event successful. Mr Woodd said the relay members are selling raffle tickets for Easter eggs. These are also available from the school office.
